Routine cine-CMR for assessment of prosthesis-associated mitral regurgitation - a multicenter, multivendor study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Mitral regurgitation (MR) is clinically important for patients with prosthetic mitral valves (PMV). While CMR can quantify MR based on flow, this requires dedicated imaging. Cine-CMR (SSFP) provides an alternative approach, whereby MR can be graded based on regurgitation-associated intervoxel dephasing. As cine-CMR is a standard component of nearly all exams, it could be used to screen for patients who warrant further quantitative imaging. Diagnostic performance of cine-CMR for prosthesis-associated MR has not been evaluated.

Towards comprehensive assessment of mitral regurgitation using cardiovascular magnetic resonance
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is increasingly used to assess patients with mitral regurgitation. Its advantages include quantitative determination of ventricular volumes and function and the mitral regurgitant fraction, and in ischemic mitral regurgitation, regional myocardial function and viability. In addition to these, identification of leaflet prolapse or restriction is necessary ...
متن کاملClinical Application of Cine-MRI in the Visual Assessment of Mitral Regurgitation Compared to Echocardiography and Cardiac Catheterization
BACKGROUND Detecting and quantifying the severity of mitral regurgitation is essential for risk stratification and clinical decision-making regarding timing of surgery. Our objective was to assess specific visual parameters by cine-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the determination of the severity of mitral regurgitation and to compare it to previously validated imaging modalities: echocardi...
متن کاملAssessment of left ventricular volumes and primary mitral regurgitation severity by 2D echocardiography and cardiovascular magnetic resonance
BACKGROUND Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (2DTTE) remains the first-line diagnostic imaging tool to assess primary mitral regurgitation although cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has proven to establish left ventricular function more accurately and might evaluate mitral regurgitation severity more reliably. We sought to compare routine evaluation of left ventricular functi...
متن کاملQuantitation of mitral regurgitation after percutaneous MitraClip repair: comparison of Doppler echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.
OBJECTIVE Percutaneous valve intervention for severe mitral regurgitation (MR) using the MitraClip is a novel technology. Quantitative assessment of residual MR by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is challenging, with multiple eccentric jets and artifact from the clips. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is the reference standard for left and right ventricular volumetric assessment. CM...
متن کاملNon-invasive estimation of increased LV filling pressures in LV hypertrophy with normal systolic function: Comparison between CMR and Doppler, validated by invasive PCWP measurements
Methods Sixteen patients with hypertensive heart disease (LV mass index: 111 ± 18 g/m), absence of valvular regurgitation and with normal systolic function (LV ejection fraction: 67 ± 7 %) referred for cardiac catheterization were studied. Measurement of mitral flow and mitral annulus velocities were performed by Doppler and phase-contrast CMR. CMR derived global longitudinal and global volumet...
